Market Day — The Rosny Barn Market

This post is a bit late as the market date was the 3rd of September — but I thought I'd still write about it as it was a great first experience of being part of an art and design market. I've learned a lot about how to have a successful market day, and think the next one will certainly be easier now I know a bit more about what to expect.

The Barn Market is located in a gorgeous old stone barn (c.1818) and its well-tended grounds, making it the perfect, picturesque spot for arts based activities. I was fortunate to have an indoor stall as the weather in Spring in Tasmania is a little bit unpredictable! My amazing husband made some display stands for my prints and cards — so I will have them for every market I decide to do — one less thing to sort out next time.

The market day was a lot of fun and one of the highlights was meeting the other makers involved — especially as I had admired their work for ages. They all had great advice and there is a really supportive vibe amongst Tassie makers, that we're all in this together and want each other to succeed at our handmade businesses. Some of the lovely makers I met on the day include: Petal & Pins, In Various States, Contemporary Botanica, Murdoch Design and Under the Shade of a Bonsai Tree (it was especially great meeting Jacqueline as she has been an enormous support to me — and everyone else there — with her Instagram account promoting Tasmanian made and designed items — @TasDesigned) There are too many to mention but these are a few I met for the first time on the day.

I can't wait to be a part of some markets again in the near future :)
